Almost a "Catch 22" situation, however, individual perseverance and determination are a great start. It also takes a dedicated team of enthusiastic people to get an athlete training and racing, usually heading the list are immediate family and friends.  Luke Leschke and Zac Clarkson Tandem Racing is a more expensive form of cycling, the bikes are required to be stronger and are equipped with more components than a regular bike. Getting "value" for sponsoring an athlete comes in many forms but usually from media coverage. More likely, value comes from the local communities whom identify with the individual. Popular as racing events are, cyclists on regular training rides or taking part in community rides have excellent exposure to the general public. Clothing is often colourful and designed for advertising. Sponsorship can extend from the individual to include a team, club or even a school based coaching clinic. A structured sponsorship and advertising program can work with an athlete's performance and results by offering them (the athletes) long term incentives giving you (the sponsor) long term results.
